It has an intermittant fault whereby the lapboot boots up but the screen remains black. I have connected an external monitor to the laptop when this happens and everthing is fine - no error messages.
If I continue to switch the laptop off and on, eventually the screen will appear. When the screen appears I have no further problems until I shut down the laptop, then the whole process repeats.
If I dont shut down but simply close the laptop, the screen always appears when I re-open anytime later.
Sometimes, when the screen does not operate after 5 or 6 attemts, I have found that removing the battery and starting the machine from the mains adaptor only fixes the problem.
I have tried the usual solutions such as removing the battery, holding down the power button etc etc but to no avail.
As I said, the problem is random. Sometimes it will start up immediately, other times it can take 10 mins to get the screen to work.
It may sound strange but occcasionally I have resorted to blowing into the vents at the back and the machine has started at the next attempt - but not every time. I dont think the problem is overheating as this occurs from a cold or hot start.
This is driving me mad. Any ideas?
