Is there another, lightweigt, software that you can use to turn off/disable the wireless when you plug in the LAN?

Something smaller, and more lightweight then Dell ControlPoint Connection Manager would be awesome.

I think it's possible to do a custom install of Control Point such that you only install the features you want. Either way, it's not really anymore bloated than the old QuickSet, especially if you installed *all* of QuickSet's features.

Does the WLAN device have a property 'disable upon wired connect' on an advanced driver tab?
Another solution: http://www.wirelessautoswitch.com.
Could try Task Scheduler triggering on a hardware event source and id. When the LAN cable is connected (E100B and 18 for my NIC), run the DevCon command-line utility to disable the WLAN device. May require more tasks to manage the whole user experience. And may not result in the immediate release of already-issued WLAN IP addresses.
